What are essential oils?
Essential oils are the oils that we get from distillation of plants or their different parts. The resultant distilled liquid contains the aroma and flavor of the plant in the most concentrated form. This concentrated liquid is then mixed with a carrier oil to produce the essential oil.
How do essential oils work?
Essential oils are very popular with the term aromatherapy. It is believed that the aroma in the essential oils stimulates the brain cells. This produces a relaxing effect in our body. Not only this, when applied to skin, essential oils get absorbed in our skin’s pores and produce a really soothing and calming effect. There are various other benefits related to different essential oils. Relaxing effect is a common effect across all.
Scientific studies for aromatherapy
The National Library of Medicine, has listed down various studies for the same. One of the studies analyzed data set from the year 1990 to 2010. It found a mild positive correlation in the usage of essential oils and the benefits it claimed. There are studies which are still underway. So, it can be deduced that essential oils can act as a complementary agent in our daily lives and usages. That is how we can reap its benefits.
Personal experiences & experiments
At Smishi, we do a lot of tests and trials before coming to a conclusion. So, we did one soap test and one massage test to prove the efficacy of essential oils. Both the tests had two variants. One soap test was done with essential oils and one was done without essential oils in the soap. Similarly, one massage test was done with essential oils and the other one without.
We observed and felt a very large and obvious experiential difference between with and without essential oils tests. The soap test and the massage test with the essential oils produced far more relaxing environment because of their respective aromas. The body and mind felt more relaxed and at ease with the essential oils tests.
Therefore, all the soaps at Smishi, consist of pure distilled essential oils in all of the soap bars. With this, the soaps become not only a good cleansing, but, also a therapeutic agent. Thus, these essential oil soap bars create a soothing bathing experience in our daily lives. It aides in making us forget all our daily troubles and thoughts and makes us calmed and relaxed.
